Pianist Petros Bouras was born in Athens, Greece. By the age of 7 he had already began his piano training and at the age of 15 he was performing with the renowned Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis. In June 2006 he was awarded his performance diploma from the Athens Musical Horizons Conservatory graduating with honours. That same year he won places to attend the International Summer Musical Academy of Alsace (Musicalta) and at Trinity College of Music in London to undertake Master’s Degree studies in music performance with Professor Yonty Solomon. His studies also include classes with the pianists France Clidat, Bernard Ringeissen, Francesco Nicolosi, Alberto Portugheis, Brigitte Engerer and Alexandra Papastefanou.
Since 2008 Bouras has worked as principal accompanist at the Ballet Company of the Greek National Opera. He has performed as a soloist performing concertos in his native Greece with the Greek National Orchestra at the Megaron Athens Music Hall, and has appeared in recitals at the Parnassos Music Hall and the Goethe Institut. In Belgium he performed recitals at the Palais de Beaux Arts, Halles de Schaerbeek, and the Salle Philarmonique de Liege.
Since 2010 he has been a member of the Oticons Orchestra and Ensemble performing with musicians such as the Japanese composer Shigeru Umebayashi and the Belgian conductor-composer Dirk Brosse for the Global Thinkers Forum. He is a member of Galan Trio, consisting of the principal string players of the Greek National Opera’s Orchestra with Marina Kolovou (cello) and Dimitra Triantafyllou (violin), giving several concerts in Greece and abroad.
Moreover, since 2015 he works with the famous American Tango Flutist Jessica Quiñones and they have performed as a duet in various places, such as England.
Bouras has given the first public performance of Greek premieres by composers such as Th. Antoniou and G. Kouroupos, He has collaborated to deliver performances with productions such as Lorca’s Blood Wedding and The Sin of My Mother in venues such as the Athens KarolosKoun Art Theatre, also collaborating with music conductors such as A. Tselikas (conductor of Athens State Orchestra) and M. Michailidis (artistic director of Greek National Opera).
His latest project in 2015 is the composition of the soundtrack for the Swiss film “Quart de nuit” and a worldwide broadcast premiere and recording of the piano trio ‘Tango Tout Court" by Dirk Brosse. In addition to his solo career, he is also Professor of Piano at the Athens Musical Horizons Conservatory.
