I’m Mihaela Duma and I was born in Braila, a city southeast of Romania, in 1988. I received the first musical lessons of my father, Constantin Duma, teacher and accordionist.
My academic training began at the Lyceum of Arts, ‘’Haricleea Darclée’’ (Romania). At the time of Romanian Post-Communism, I remember that stage with a teaching system hard, severe and very disciplined. In parallel with piano studies, I went to ballet classes.
Years later, in 2001, my family moved to Spain. After years without studying piano and self-taught, as a teenager ,I entered the Conservatory of Getafe (Madrid), in the first year. The education system change was radical and innovative in all its aspects.
The last years of this stage were decisive. Being student of a excellent teacher, Luis Calderón,helped me to decide I really wanted to continue studying piano at a higher level.
In 2010 I got one of the few places in the prestigious School of Music of the Basque Country, Musikene. In addition, I managed to fulfill the desire to be a student of pianist Miguel Ituarte. After four years, I have a Degree in Piano Performance.
Throughout my training I appeared with the Musikene’s Sinfonietta directed by José Maria Sánchez -Verdú in San Sebastian , the Orfeón Donostiarra, the Eutherpe Foundation (León, Spain) and the Ateneo Theater (Madrid) or Conservatoire of Leioa (Bilbao, Spain).
In the field of contemporary music, I performed contemporary works in the presence of such composers as Jesus Torres, Jesús Rueda and Gérard Pesson among others.
In January 2015 I released the virtuosistis piece for the left hand only, “Rapsodia Nusantara No. 15” by the indonesian pianist and composer, Ananda Sukarlan .
I’ve been awarded in piano competitions like Hosseschrueders Hazen(Madrid), semifinalist in the competition “Intercentros” (Madrid) or honors at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM).
My interest in early music led me to start my studies in harpsichord with Professor Loreto Fernandéz Imaz in San Sebastian and I debuted as a soloist in the DIMA Festival (San Sebastían,2013) playing “L’ art de toucher le harpsichord” by Fr. Couperin.
Nowadays I have concerts in differents cities of Spain, writting my piano compositions and teaching to piano lovers and helping piano students.
