From London David studied Classical Clarinet and rose through the ranks of the London Jazz Scene. Projects he has led include A Tribute to Eric Dolphy Project recorded by BBC Radio 3, The UK Posse, The Righteous Reeds (clarinet and four London Saxophonists), Jazz and Voices (the David Jean-Baptiste Quintet+5 gifted female singers and jazzoetry), and is leader of the London-Paris Connection. The cd “The Nature Suite” was a hit with TSF Paris Jazz Radio. Also recently performed with The Nigel Kennedy Orchestra in the Philharmonie in Berlin and Baroque Box. Musicians David has worked with include Tony Remy, James Carter, David Murray in Murray’s Big Band (The music of Duke Ellington) and Octet (The music of John Coltrane), The Jazz Warriors, Alain Jean-Marie, Cleveland Watkiss, Abdullah Ibrahim, The Mingus Big Band, Michel Duijves, Fra Fra Sound, Lemn Sissay, Tim Schicore.
A man of seemingly unlimited talent…Clarinettist, Saxophonist, Bass Flautist and Composer. David is a well know Clarinet soloist Internationally, having performed and given masterclasses as part of festivals and concerts internationally in both Jazz and Classical music. Having lived in New York City, in Paris and in Bremen Germany he has performed and recorded with musicians he otherwise would have not had the opportunity to. He studied the Clarinet and Piano at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music. David also has a Masters Degree in Composing for Film and Television from Kingston University. He gave a Solo Clarinet Recital at the International Clarinet Festival in Assisi Italy, at the First European Clarinet Festival in Kortrijkt Belgium and at the First Bass Clarinet Convention in Rotterdam. David will be performing at the oncoming International Clarinet Festival this summer in Baton Rouge.
