Maria Nikitidou was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. She is a classical pianist and teacher. She received her Piano Diploma from the Municipal Conservatoire of Thessaloniki, where she studied with scholarship, with Distinction. She completed her postgraduate studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under the guidance of the concert pianists Martino Tirimo and Gabriele Baldocci (MA in Performance and Music Education), graduating with Distinction as well.
Maria has given recitals throughout Greece, Cyprus and the UK (especially in London) and has worked extensively as an accompanist and as a member of chamber music ensembles. She has additionally won a prize at the Orpheus Soloists Chamber music competition and took part at the summer chamber music festival at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. She has performed in festivals for young musicians and as a soloist with the Municipal Symphony Orchestra of Thessaloniki.
Apart from her musical studies, she received her Bachelor degree in Primary Education from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with Distinction and attained QTS for employment in the UK. During her studies she performed as an orchestra member in the Symphony Orchestra of the University.
Maria is currently working as a Music Teacher at Gipsy Hill Federation and a performer and has developed interest expanding her repertoire and experimenting with new works as well as researching piano pedagogy and teaching methods. She has additionally worked an SEND Teacher focusing on students with dyslexia and complex needs for two years.
